Here is one of those awful films that is a lot of fun to watch. Tammy Lauren is a gemologist who sets an evil djinn free from his stone (Andrew Divoff, without whom this film would have been a complete waste of time), allowing him to run rampant around Los Angeles turning gym bod shop assistants into mannequins and grand pianos into grand-guignol killing machines. Like the Final Destination movies (but on a much stricter budget), everyone involved in the hokum is just having a riot with a zany concept (wishes coming true but not how you’d want them to) much like the mad scientist movies of the 50’s. Throw in some cameos from Jason Voorhees aka Kane Hodder, Candyman aka Tony Rodd, a voiceover from the Tall Man (Angus Scrimm) and a key role in the dream master himself Robert Englund and you have an unashamedly silly, beer-spilling “oh no they didn’t” treat.
