Although Sigourney Weaver takes centre stage, Holly Hunter is the real reason to watch 'Copycat'. She steals every scene she is in with her steely, faux-chirrupy performance. Jon Amiel also does an excellent job of ratcheting up the tension, particularly in the opening scene which is masterfully done, and the video collages that the killer leaves behind as a trail of clues are downright terrifying, moreso than the crimes themselves. I don't think I've seen a film that was bookended so well and concisely like this one was, with Harry Connick Jr. leering at us, as if, although we have been given a somewhat happy ending, true evil will always be lurking out there.
