A very complex character is at risk of being swallowed up by a sumptuous period decor and an army of set designers and green screen wizadry in this epic revisit to the grassy knoll and the White House shortly thereafter. Portman manages to pull off a very conflicted Jackie and is supported by an excellent cast. The film goes to great pains to show us that JFK's iconic status was in no small part Jacqueline Kennedy's doing, alas we learn next to nothing about her own life story and family. That is not the point of the film, of course, but I'd love to know more about this First Lady.
