One of the earlier films of acclaimed Russian director Nikita Mikhalkov, who won an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film for the 1994 film "Burnt by the Sun".  This movie that tackles interrupted love and unfulfilled happiness shows much promise plus balanced with outstanding acting portrayals of the actors. Editing and cinematography are quite impressive and one of the actors in this movie, Stanislav Lyubshin was chosen as Best Actor at the Valladolid International Film Festival.
