Dream Boy
USA, 2008, 88 minutes, SD Drama, Romance, LGBT
This film by director James Bolton tackles gay romance between two young men in rural Louisiana. The acting performances are commendable, especially that of Stephen Bender as the shy Nathan and Maximillian Roeg as the friendly Roy. It's also a coming of age film and also tackles other issues like homophobia and incest. Based on the 1995 novel of Jim Grimsley,  there are poignant scenes between the two leads and then there are disturbingly dark scenes, too. Dark in the sense that it reveals a side of men that are monstrous amidst what appears to be  an immaculate interior.  Interestingly, this film won Grand Jury Award at the L.A. Outfest and Best Feature Award from the Iris Prize Festival.
