This film features a powerhouse cast of Filipino actors and also stars Isabelle Huppert, a famous French actress.  Based on real-life accounts, that of a hostage crisis that took place in Palawan, Philippines, the film unfortunately didn't create quite a stir among local viewers but it did  gave moviegoers a front-seat view of the hostages' ordeals and trauma. It also presents an ugly reality, that which is the presence of armed groups in the countryside that prey on tourists and even locals, abducting them and asking for ransom in exchange for their release.  With director Mendoza at the helm, it's a  pity this film didn't make it at filmfests like Cannes and Venice.  This is still worth checking out for the commendable performances of actors.
