I couldn't understand what all the fuss about this film was. It's a very tender, thoughtful and languid ode to overcoming grief that washes over you fairly quickly. Not a lot happens, but what does happen is beautiful and touches at the core of what it is to be human. As for THAT scene, it's nothing you haven't already witnessed in countless Larry Clark or the odd Bonello movie. If Sevigny wasn't in this, or if it wasn't from bad-boy flavour of the month Gallo, or from French production house Wild Bunch, it would have been just another nicely-shot student film. But no, instead it went to Cannes and caused an uproar. Why the fuss?
Not for me
