I'd like to think that the voice of the father speaking thru the phone's answering machine was spoken by a real person who was trapped in one of those buildings during the 9/11 attack, because I feel a genuine melancholic tone and a sense of worry and uncertainty in it. As scenes unfold one can sense a daughter's longing to "bring back time" as depicted in scenes where it seems to rewind, back to when the father was still at home just before going to work on that fateful day.
