As easy to presume that the abuse and oppression experienced by the young man was acceptable, being part of his rite-of-passage, the scenarios presented still seem to delve at an unusual angle. The ending wasn't what I expected either, a sort of resolution perhaps, but in all its vagueness, this film conveyed the perils of bullying and peer pressure. While the lad vindicated himself towards the end, his crying and sobbing was, for me, a sign of surrender and condescension.
