Viewers sense a mixture of  poetry, fantasy and lyricism in this film by director Tengiz Abuladze. While the central focus is that of a tragic romance between Marita and Gedya, there are a handful of characters that bring variety and color to the film. Eccentric characters like Pupala and the man who is in search of the wishing tree are just some of them. One can observe  a vague humming sound in the background on particular scenes and  there is an invitation to meditate on underlying messages that the film aims to convey.  Uniquely genuine filmmaking and creative elements coming together into one contemplative movie.
