Snakes alive! This barmy Haitian-set voodoo caper from Wes Craven is as uneven as a crocodile's back, but what a journey it is! Imagine Romancing the Stone with Baron Samedi and you're halfway there. With so few films out there about voodoo, it's a fascinating story, with elements of truth surrounding the potent potion that turns people into zombies. Bill Pullman puts in an excellent, convincing performance among the hokum, with Zakes Mokae making an excellent and truly creepy villain.
