This Thai period film captures the music and a country succumbing to modern and western influences. Music is universal as each country and region invents different musical instruments to make music as well as mimic the sounds of nature. This film is based on the story of Sorn Silapabanleng, a musical master, how he developed his talent and witnessing the extinction of Thai classical music during the time of a totalitarian leader. Sorn believes that Thai classical music is part of Thai heritage and the preservation of which is directly linked to the country and the people's identity as a nation. Cinematography and sound are superb. This film was an entry in the Oscars in the foreign film category.
