Intense and with great performances! This  film of a  girl king, Sweden's queen Kristina, played by Malin Buska, takes on a rare route and gives us  a peek of an unconventional reign. This parable of power and also of love stays in the minds of viewers also because of the impressionable production design  despite of the modest film budget and  yes, the powerhouse cast. Sarah Gadon as Countess Ebba Sparre, love interest of the Queen Kristina packs up a commanding onscreen presence and  Michael Nyquist (known for the film " The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo") as Queen Kristina's uncle and counselor was impressive.  Queen Kristina's friendship with French philosopher  Rene Descartes was also an interesting angle in the film and how his teachings boils over in her manner of ruling the kingdom.  Do check out this compelling historic film, folks!
