A really brilliant film and one of my childhood favourites. The chemistry and comic timing between Richard and Auteuil zings, and the supporting cast are equally strong. It deals with race relations as if they were trivial, and indeed they should be - the warmth of the characters takes centre-stage and as for the kids - they'll melt your heart. The final line is a real corker and nicely caps off all the great moments that come before it. An overlooked gem of modern French cinema that is both popular and contains subtleties that are worthy of repeat viewings.
