Revolution Synopsis

A coming-of-age story about Jack, a 16-year old Iranian boy growing up in 1989 Los Angeles. With the 1979 Iranian Revolution a distant memory, the AIDS movement as a backdrop, and a haunting score by Vampire Weekend's Rostam Batmanglij, Jack learns how to stage his own much smaller revolution within the confines of his traditional family.

As boys and girls grow up they begin to see, feel and explore. Jack begins this phase with brief encounter with sexuality, a loss of a loved one and a dog. He began a small revolution of sort not to change the system but to make it a bit livable with the help of his doting mother. The film was heartwarming with a trace of hope in the end… The dog was saved from going to a shelter… :)

Absolutely love the  final scene with Jack and his ex-nanny Letti seen on the car's window but also showing the face of Jack's mother inside the car as she looks on to them. Feelings of love, affection, compassion and joy all summed up in one frame.   Jack's inner revolution concerning religion, fanned by his devotion of his former nanny Letti contradicts with the ideals  that his parents want him to live by.  In this he triumphs as he gains the understanding of his mother, after all.  This film evokes emotions and invites viewers to make a quick assessment of their own convictions and beliefs.  A must-watch!
