I challenge anyone to see this utterly fascinating and beautifully ugly film, so rich with blackness and misery - I had never, and will never, see anything like it. The performances, notably that of Dequenne - are incredible. How it didn't get wider recognition I do not know. Probably because of the subject matter, based on true events. Eager to see what psyche the director confronts and unpeels next.
