A surprisingly taut little thriller, that has aged pretty well considering. Sure, the corny dialogue is here, and the stiff upper lips, but there is something incredible about a film made during this era, that is about something that terrifies us still to this day, and was one of the first to put it to screen. Then it was communism, war, the American Dream - today the true source of viewer's fears have changed, but how they are manifested has not. The question remains - can one trust one's neighbour in a time of crisis and mass suspicion? These questions have all been asked before, and these films are still being made, and will always be relevant and engrossing, regardless of the dated aesthetics. A classic sci-fi that is essential viewing.
