You wouldn't expect a story about a man falling in love with his phone to be one of the most affecting and evocative films in recent years, but that's exactly what Spike Jonze delivers in Her. The performances are what really stand out; Joaquin Phoenix again proves himself to be one of the greatest actors working today and Scarlett Johansson does great work as the disembodied Samantha, especially impressive as she was never even present on set. With a sharp script, beautiful design (so much red!) and a haunting soundtrack, Her is sure to stay with you long after the credits have rolled.
