Cinematography was so exquisite and viewers are treated to a visual feast of Japanese landscapes especially in the spring and autumn seasons. This is another multi-awarded film from Kitano which not only tugs at the heartstrings but also appeasing to the eyes. Miho Kanno is outstanding as the character Sawako who suffers brain damage after attempting suicide when her lover Matsumoto jilted her upon his parents' order.  Kanno won as Best Supporting Actress at the Hochi Film Festival for her portrayal. Emotionally exhausting yet visually appealing.
