This is the first of the many highly-acclaimed films of  renowned Korean director Kim Ki-duk. For a debut film it was impressive and the violence is so chilling it seems to seep in through your bones.  I've noticed one too many dark and bleak shots, as if to give allusion to the darkness that is hidden in the human nature and as depicted by Crocodile, portrayed here by actor Jae-hyeon Jo. This character is violent and shows no mercy even to the old man and kid he lives with and the woman he saved yet violated. Disturbing with a raw tinge of reality! Kim Ki-duk is really a force to reckon with, as can be seen in this film and so with the rest of his films.
