Blackout won a 2012 Shriekfest film Festival and became the official selection of Hollyshorts. Criminals, 2 men and a woman, take advantage of a black out and break into an antiques warehouse, strapping the security guard with duct tape. Little did they know that monsters were in the warehouse and many more were outside of it.  Thinking that they’ve won after burning a monster by igniting a car, they decide to wait for morning. But electricity will not return because it was those very monsters that caused the blackout.A lot here is original although reminiscent of some past and probably forgotten monster movie but the filmmakers made the idea their own. I like the light humor and the thrill  that went with it. The actors were no amateurs – they did well. I like the warehouse setting too for it gave plenty of room for the story to be spun. It did not disappoint me. In fact, it kept me glued to my seat.
