An impressive first feature film by Vanja d'Alcantara! This poignant film of a mother who  gets deported to Central Asia at the start of the World War II depicts the hardships and sufferings  but also optimism and hope. Inspired by the true-to-life experiences of director d'Alcantara's grandmother, this film shows the grim reality of war and the struggles that go with it, made more harder especially for those with small children who are prone to illnesses, like in the case of Nina. Grachowska pulls a very intense performance in this multi-awarded film which was also nominated as Best Film at the Magritte Belgian Cinema.
